The Minister for Trade, Craig Emerson, has delivered a speech on trade in which he reasserted the Labor Party’s commitment to free trade, open markets and competition.
The essence of this speech is that the Labor Government is stating it’s philosophical view that it wants to re-engage the free trade priciples of the Hawke-Keating era. This is consistent with the recent Productivity Commission report recommendations and the position the ASA is advocating.
